Bottom line on the Savage: It's the coolest bike for the least cash.

You simply cannot buy a bike this respectible for the money anywhere else. Other "economically priced" bikes are lower cc's or 20+ years old with little style in my opinion.

My '95 cost me $1900 with 1600 miles on it in Oct. 2001. That just goes to show you that anyone can afford one of these things. That's chump-change. But it's not a chump bike. I think if more people knew just how cool this bike was for the low price, more people would want one. There's no reason not to own a motorcycle with this ride out there.

Its simplicity invites you to work on it. It gets looks. You don't see a whole hell of a lot of them on the road.

I feel it's the best kept secret in the cruiser market. It's a unique bike. Customize yours a little and it is that much more unique. Anyone can trick out a Harley or most other mid-sized imports. Aftermarket parts are not freely available for the Savage, so if you figure out a way to customize your bike, it's likely that you have truly one of a kind.

For what it's worth, I will probably never get rid of my Savage if I buy another bike. I wouldn't get that much for it to offset the enormous cost of a new one. I'd be better off with a "fleet" at that point.

The bike rides great at 65-70. Any faster than that would be a thrill don't get me wrong, but not a practical speed for my lifestyle. The Savage is right at home at that speed.

I really like Harleys. I hope to get one some day. However, I will say that right after I test drove a stock 883 Hugger last summer, I really appreciated the zip and feel of my Savage on the way home. Savages perform very well I think.

If you like the bike, screw what others say. You're in the wind and that's really what it's all about...
